Unfair practice by DSTV MULTICHOICE

W hy are all the channels forced on us and do we have to pay for it if we have NO interest in those channels. I am a pensioner who loves the following channels; 144, 145, 101,103,104,105 and most important channels 201,202 and 203. I cannot afford PREMIUM packages any more but the next package available cut most of my favourite channels out and leave me with no Cart Blanch, The Good Doctor, or any Rugby, Golf or Cricket channel, but 4 soccer channels. DSTV is discriminating against a certain race and their preferences in order to subsidice other individuals. If I want to buy a bread in the supermarket they cannot force meto take and pay for milk as well. It is against the consumer act.

Good day Alwyn

Thank you for sharing your concern with us.

I fully understand that you would like to choose your own channels, as you believe you would pay less. There is an “economies of scale” benefit when channels are grouped into packages and offered to a set number of customers. What this means is that it is cheaper for our customers to get packages, as opposed to making up their own package.

Individual channels on their own are expensive and if customers were to select a mix of their own channels, they would end up paying more than what they currently pay. As channel choices vary greatly, there is also a chance that a specific niche channel will become unaffordable if there is too little interest.

We put a lot of thought and research into putting together the DStv Packages and maintaining them. We ensure that there are a variety of packages available to suit every pocket, and that every package will offer something for every member of the family. We also consistently monitor feedback from customers, and factor this in when deciding on changes to packages.

Kind regards

Dinah

Give me a breakdown of what it will cost meif I only select 144,101, 201 and 211 as a package. I do not want to sponser the other channels and I do belirve these channels I have listed is greatly in demand.
