Unfair Consumer rights

I am a dstv subscriber and I bought a SD pvr decoder from someone in gumtree. I then took it multi choice and they no longer activate extra view because the decoder is discontinued! So why would me and other consumers buy this decoder? For he original manufacturing defaults! I am not impressed! These products are still in the market and multichoice should not do this, it isn't right! Then they should either make sure all the SD pvrs are destroyed or broke or still allow original function fir the customer. So now I can't use the decode at all!!!!

Hello Sally07,

The decoders are no longer in the market as new decoders available from us. We won't be able to repair SD PVR decoders when they stop working.

Also, some decoders have too little processing power and memory to cope with the growing number of channels on our platforms, so we're letting our customers know.

They have the option to continue to use their decoder until it stops working or trade it in for a new decoder at a discounted price.

We're launching a new satellite at the beginning of 2017, which will position our channels on low and high band frequencies. Unfortunately the SD PVR decoder can only get low band frequencies. This means that customers will lose out on any channels or services made available on high band.
