Undue account claims

For the past 2 weeks I have been getting sms's from DSTV saying I owe them. 2 weeks ago the amount was R120 today the amount was R170. I decided to follow up as I cancelled my DSTV account 2020 or 2021 this is more than two years that I haven't had any account related to DSTV. Imagine my surprise when the call centre agent claimed that my account was reinstated on the 25th February 2023. My question was how can I reinstate a service when I don't even own a decoder, how would that make sense and I don't have any intention of ever reinstating this service. So how did this happen? No explanation is given except for it shows on the system that the service was reinstated on 25 February 2023 and the outstanding amount is R21 for services rendered. To whom was this service rendered and how as I have no decoder? The service agent(Nombulelo) promises to rectify the matter by sending a request to rectify as I was not the one to reinstate the service. I request that I get an email once the matter is resolved, I'm am told I must request that email from the relevant department as the agent cannot send such mails. My request is then can I get an SMS with a reference from the call, answer no please write it down as it is not possible to send you an SMS. How will I know the matter has been attended and resolved? If any gent calls in the future I must give them this reference number. This is unnecessary admin I'm very frustrated DSTV is ******** us during these difficult times 🤦🏽not ayoba 🤞🏽 Advise to customers 1. Guys check on these random sms's, save yourself the trouble to try and resolve some unfounded claims from these companies, sometimes they even get court orders to garnish you. 2. Take note that ****s don't always come from ******** but service providers as well. 3. Note that it won't be easy to get your money back once they debit/garnish you. Take care early. Guard your hard earned cash.
