Unauthorized insurance added on my account

I am writing to express my deep concern and frustration regarding an issue on my account.

I am on the DStv Compact package and, last month, I received a statement reflecting charges for funeral and DStv insurance that I never signed up for, authorised, or agreed to. I have not requested any insurance services and have never signed any documentation or given consent for these to be added to my account.

Upon noticing the unauthorised charges, I contacted Multichoice immediately. However, I was informed by your consultant that these cannot be cancelled by your team and that I must contact the insurance service provider directly. Unfortunately, I was not given the name or contact details of the insurance provider, leaving me unable to resolve the issue.

As a result, I continued paying my standard DStv Compact monthly subscription — excluding the unauthorised insurance charges. Despite my account being up to date for the services I subscribed to, my DStv has now been disconnected due to non-payment of the insurance. To make matters worse, I have now been charged a reconnection fee, which is both unfair and unacceptable under the circumstances.

I am extremely disappointed with this situation. It is unjust for my viewing service to be disrupted and for extra fees to be charged when I have upheld my part of the agreement by paying for the DStv service only. I strongly believe this practice is misleading and *********.

I respectfully request the following urgent actions:

Immediate reconnection of my DStv account without any reconnection fee.

Removal of all unauthorised insurance charges from my account.

Clear confirmation that no such deductions will be added in future without my written consent.

Assistance with identifying and contacting the insurance provider (if needed for cancellation purposes).

Please treat this matter as urgent, and provide a written response at your earliest convenience.
