Unauthorised debit
In February 2020 I contacted Multichoice and informed them that I have changed my banking details and to start debiting my new account on the 25th of every month, starting on the 25th March 2020. Since the conversation held with Multichoice I detected the following debit order irregularities on my bank statement.
1. 25 March 2020 a debit order of R718.00
27 March 2020 a debit order of R 709.00
2. 25 April 2020 a debit order of R733.00
28 April 2020 a debit order of R1314.80
3. 25 May 2020 a debit order of R733.00
27 May 2020 a debit order of R1019.00
On the 1st of June 2020 I went to Multichoice Customer Services Department at Randburg to query the debit orders. To my surprise the consultant showed me my DSTV statement whereby the 27 March, 28 April and 27 May 2020 debit orders showed above were not appearing in their statement, but they do on my bank statement.
The Multichoice Consultant told me to do the following:
1. To obtain the Transaction list from my bank
2. Obtain an affidavit from the Police station stating that I have authorised Multichoice to debit my account on the 25th of every month only.
3. Then submit the documents to Multichoice Randburg on the 2nd of May 2020.
I find it very unfair that Multichoice did not attend to my query as expected, citing that it does not show from their statement that my bank account was double debited, even though I had proof at hand.
