Time to dump DSTV?
There is a serious decline in channels offered by DSTV. Unfortunately, if one wants to watch international news channels and sports channels, there is no other option than to get the premium package. But beware of all the garbage that accompanies the news and sports channels in that premium package. Horrific Chinese movies, 4 or 5 channels with amateuristic Nigerian movies, 10 channels with series, of which some in foreign languages but dubbed in English, 7 or 8 religious channels with preachers falling over themselves trying to scream as loud as possible, 5 or 6 cartoon channels. I read now online on Moneyweb that DSTV is "bleeding customers", and for good reasons! There is much better value for money elsewhere. Time to dump DSTV?

Kindly note that there is a limit on how much new content is produced every year. A single channel broadcasting 24 hours a day needs 8760 hours of content a year. In comparison, Hollywood only makes about 600 new English-language movies every year, which equates to only about 1200 hours of movies. This means that there will always be older content that plays.
Having said that, there is a lot of new content available on a weekly basis – there are never-seen-before shows and movies that premiere every week. As this is spread across many channels (and customers tend to stick to their few favourite channels), we recommend using the TV Guide to see what is on across all the channels.
