The end of the DSTV Monopoly

<p>In the next few years DSTV will become obsolete with technology advancements in the digital intertainment industry. Current customer service and lack of awareness with how they treat customers by simply chopping and changing programmes and simply removing series, I am sure their demise will happen faster.</p> <p>I am a DSTV premium subsriber with an explora, as a premium subcriber I pay for and expect a PREMIUM SERVICE ! this is where multichoice falls flat promising the world but delivering none of it. </p> <p>I dont channel surf I watch a few selected series on my own time when I can and hence the reason why I bought the explora which has a catch up function, this means I dont have to record programs in order to watch them at a later stage. </p> <p>Recently when I decided to watch some of the series that I follow they had dissapeared from catch up, not only the programmes but the ICONS as well, the programmes HAD NOT EXPIRED and were still valid. I also had plenty space on my hard drive. I contacted the DSTV customer service helpline where they tried the usual reset techniques wich did not help and then I was told it must be a problem with my hardware or installation. I had the hardware and installation checked and all was working 100%. I was then told that the series had been take off catch up by DSTV and Multi choice reserves the right to make changes as they like !</p> <p>Why bother with catchup if you are going to take away series before the programmes EXPIRE ? DSTV could maybe warn the public before removing them ? I dont know which programmes to watch, if I start watching half way through they can simply remove the series and you are left wondering what happend. SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE !</p> <p>Whats worse is trying to get answers out of DSTV as to the reason why , it is frustrating , after numerous phone calls and emails over a period of a month, I still have not recieved feebback. This is absolutely shocking service for a company supposedly supplying a premium product !</p> <p>I did not have a internet line at home, I am now going to install one and stream. There are many products out there such as netflix, show max and amazon tv where you can watch on demand with out recording and pay a minimum fee. There are even various products out there that allow you to stream torrents direct to your TV so you can watch almost anything that is out there on the internet. If you dont have to pay for DSTV but can still watch anything you like what will be the point of DSTV ? Fiber internet lines meens high speed and good qaulity streaming ..................will this mean the end of DSTV and their monopoly, I certainly hope so !</p> <p> </p>
