*****ing In Broad Day Light

Please assist my consumer rights have been disregarded and the consumer protection act disrepected.

I purchased a Multichoice entertainment package late 2019 by contacting this number *** which took my contact details and referred me to a third party installaction technician, he contacted me came in installed the satalite dish and connected the decorder. He completed his job card and I filled in my section and he left.

My first suprize came when i needed to activate and pay the call centre agent told me my previous account was in arrears of +-R238 which she said I did not submit a disconnection request when I last used the service as a result they allowed airplay in arrears as I was a loyal payer and after going back and forth they agreed to pay a portion of the bill and I settled the rest.

My second surprize is the current situation where i pay on the 27th when I cannot, they suspend my service which is understandable for a month to month service however I recently discovered they charge me a R50 each time i cannot afford to buy my airplay exactly on the 27th of each month and call it a reconnection fee yet this amount has no invoice.

I contacted them via live chat and two of their consultants quoting its their terms and conditions. As per screenshots attached Fumane Moeketsi was the first to quote then Ditshwanelo Mpasi was the second to parade the terms and conditions after almost two years re using their service and not even once I have had someone from multichoice contacting me and go through their terms and conditions so i can acknowledge and accept however suddenly when i dispute additional charges they claim its on their terms and conditions. I tried to tell her it is the duty of the service provider to disclose this at the beginning of the contract as per the consumer protection act and I would like to lay a case against her for quoting something her company is using as legal binding for a month to month service.

Multichoice cannot provide tax invoice for reconnection fees, Ditshwanelo immediately closed the chat when I told my dispute is about the three R50 they have charged so far however reconciled their statement so it looks an outstanding amount for airplay.

No affordability analysis is done as I pressume its due to their every year annual increase so if by close of business on your payment day you do not pay they disconnect you.

I am sure I am not the first person to ask why is multuchoice hiding behind terms and conditions when there is a dispute; not so long ago they could not delivery live sport due to lockdowns yet they still collected the full payment.
