Sidelining the Minorities
I must express my deep disappointment with your handling of Indian series on your platform. The very few and limited Indian shows that are broadcast are dubbed into Zulu or Xhosa audio.
This is extremely unfair to a minority group in South Africa who also subscribe and pay for your service. By doing this, you are excluding an audience who would otherwise enjoy these shows. Why not use English dubbing, which is universally understood, so that a broader audience can appreciate the content?
It feels as though minorities are being sidelined, even within a paid service. I cannot help but notice that SABC and DSTV does not take Zulu or Xhosa content and dub it into an Indian language. Yet DStv chooses to strip away the little cultural content minorities have access to by making it inaccessible.
This is not just a matter of language it is about inclusivity, respect, and fairness. My own mother, has resorted to watching her shows on silent while reading subtitles because the audio is in Zulu. Imagine paying for a service and not even being able to enjoy it as intended.
Apparently, this has been going on for years, but I only recently noticed when I questioned her about it. How many other parents and grandparents are silently enduring the same, while their paying children remain unaware and continue paying for this? Rest assured, I will spread the word so more people understand how DStv continues to ignore its diverse customer base.
You are proving once again to be tone-deaf in your programming decisions. Cater to all your customers. The little cultural content minorities have access to should not be taken away in this manner.
Do not worry I will be one less premium customer contributing to your subscriptions going forward. I wonder how many more will follow once they realize what you are doing.
