SD PVR replacing

Our SD PVR has rebooted 8 times during our viewing time. I am not sure how many times it did it while the tv was off but I can only guess. Now I have to upgrade my system. These are my options I have to install 2 explorers to have my what my 1 decoder can do. The cost is astronomical. 5k to replace what I have now. Manyela at the call centre in Cape Town's answer was that if I want to watch DSTV that is what I need to do. I find it ethically wrong that with our customer laws in place DSTV is allowed to act in this manner regarding the force of hand to be able to replace what we had. If I had insurance on the decoder they would still only replace one - not install and replace both to put me in the same position I was. Disgusting.

Good day Beverly

We aim to give our customers an evolving (and better) viewing experience. To this end, we regularly launch new channels and services, but these can be quite demanding on your hardware.

For this reason, your decoder will go through various life cycles, starting with when it’s new and fully capable, to when it’s nearing time for replacement. Similarly, to your decoder, our older model decoders have been classified as “end of support” since November 2014.

You can still access DStv if your decoder is working but won’t be able to receive selected services that are now placed on our new satellite. The new satellite gives us the capacity to enhance the DStv services by allowing us to add more HD content and channels.

Hence it is highly important to swap in your Sd pvr decoder at any of our service centres or agencies. There are three great trade-in deals however in your case since you have decoder insurance and suffer specific damage to this decoder. As it has been advised, your Sd pvr decoder is replaced with a new DStv Explora (at no extra cost, as per the conditions of the insurance). Installation changes may be required.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Kind regards

Dinah

Best regards,

BB

I see you are challenged. The resetting of my pvr is totally your fault - MC changed the software now my decoder is giving me problems AGAIN - you are not giving me what I have now and the Explora 2 is not a better product it is worse. It does NOT offer me what I have and to get what I have will cost me 5k!
