******! Given up and going to Ombud

Every month I paid extra on my DSTV subscription. When I cancelled my subscription late last year I had ~R1,000 credit on my account. I requested a refund, and was told I had to submit a copy of my ID (no problem), 3 months bank statements (for a refund??), and proof of over payment (???).

I told them that the credit was built up over a long period of time, and that is evident in my monthly payments that they have record of. I was not prepared to give them 3 months bank statements for a refund, and offered to submit a Proof of Bank Account letter from my bank. The response was that in that case I will not get my refund. I asked for DSTV to send me a letter to that effect, they agreed, and now 3 months later I still have no letter.

I did however receive notification that they renewed the insurance on my cancelled decoder, and that the premiums are now due.

Nice tactic DSTV. Respond immediately to cpmplaints stating that it has been received so that it seems as if it has been resolved, then just ignore it. You could not respond to this within 17 days, so I do not expect any response in future. Disgucting customer service, but at least youy are consistent.
