Re-instatement of service WITHOUT permission

On or about 20 October 2015 I contacted the Multichoice call centre to cancel my DSTV subscription. I was fully aware that due to the fact that the service was active and had been used for the majority of the month, that I would have to pay for a full months service. No problem. I accepted and agreed to this. I received confirmation telephonically that my subscription would then be cancelled from 01 November 2015 and that no further payments would be raised. On checking my statement this morning, DSTV have debited my account for service during November 2015! On contacting the call centre, I was told that the 'system' automatically re-instated the service! I have been told that it will take DSTV 40 days to refund the amount and that I should therefore contact my bank as this will be quicker than waiting for them to refund me. Firstly, this takes time out of my day which I don't have, and this to rectify an error on DSTV's part! Secondly, Multichoice DID NOT have permission to debit my account for a service which I had cancelled. I expect Multichoice to arrange for refund of the amount and certainly within an acceptable time frame.
