Quo vadis Multichoice & DSTV?
Do Multichoice's programming management get sent on special courses on how to best antagonize their DSTV viewers? It sure looks like it.......
It would seem that advertisers interested in using DSTV channels to market their products and services are nowadays very thin on the ground; one wonders why this is so. That said, many of those that have signed up with DSTV seem unable to get their ad agencies to create ads that target those with a modicum of adult intelligence. It is very obvious that there aren't enough local paying ads to fill all of the slots that come with much of DSTV's imported coverage material. So DSTV continues to fill its ad slots more often than not with repetitive self advertising, or infuriating messages about forthcoming coverage on their Supersport channels (why have a TV channel guide?), or shrill entreaties to upgrade to their Premium channel. If that policy doesn't wind up their dwindling subscriber base one wonders what would. One would think being faced with significant numbers of subscribers ditching DSTV they would make every effort NOT to upset their shrinking customer base, especially as they continue to increase their DSTV subscriptions. High time Multichoice had some serious competition. For now, I would rather spend my dwindling disposable cash on other electronic entertainment offerings which on the whole offer way better value. Wakey, wakey Multichoice - you have some serious broadcast strategy planning to discuss. NOW!
