PVR DECODER TO NO LONGER BE SUPPORTED BY DSTV

I just received a call from your call centre informing me that the PVR decoder will no longer be supported by you in a few months!?! There is nothing wrong with my PVR and I took out insurance for the very reason that if something happened to it, DSTV would replace it. Now I am told that they will not support it in a few months????? The offer is an SD PVR, plus the explorer, new dish?? installation and 75 metres of cable - and when I asked the lady if you will be reimbursing me the insurance that I have paid and is it for free, because you are FORCING me to take up your offer, because there is nothing wrong with mine - she put the phone down!!! Has anyone else had this call, and if everyone with a PVR comments on this page and on Hellopeter, maybe big corporates like this will actually realise that their profits come from the consumer!!!

Hello leslie33,

It is with regret that we learn of the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced with regards to your SD PVR decoder, however that the information is correct below find further information with regards to the decoder. Please accept our sincere apologies in this regard.

While your SD PVR is still working, you can keep accessing DStv without having to do anything. It's only when your decoder stops working, or when we launch the new satellite, that you'll need to take action.

When your decoder stops working, you can bring it to one of the MultiChoice Walk-in Centres to trade for a newer model decoder at a reduced price. We're currently offering the DStv Explora at R1 699 (that's a R300 discount on the normal purchase price).
