Price Lock Nightmare

To start off from the beginnig, i purchased a dstv decoder (U4) from Game Stores and activated dstv paying the normal premium package. I then heard about the price lock plan and was immediatly interested and app****. I received my decoder and installation was done on my new explorer on a price lock plan. The installer then adviced me to please contact the customer care line to advice them that i have now switched over to the price lock plan and that my old decoder should be disconnected so that i wont be double debited for my old decoder and new price plan.To my frushtation after doing exactly what the installer told me to do aswel as customer care assuring me that i wont be double debited, my bank account was debited for both decoders, with only viewing my new price lock premium package and being charged for both. after very long phone calls to customer care, being told by customer care that i had used both decoders and viewed both decoders that the way they charged me was correct, with much frushtration i eventually managed to get customer care to understand my situation and that i only had use of the one decoder they refunded ammounts debited for U4 decoder to my price lock plan account, finally disconnecting the old decoder which was not in use after i had received my explorer 2.I was again assured by customer care that i will only be debited for my price lock premium at the end of the next month.once again to my frushtration i was debited double again for both decoders.unfortuanitly i did not have enough funds in my account so the debit order bounced and my bank charges was R100 per bounced debit order and dstv tried to debit my account 4 times after that, which i was now in arrears on my bank account by R500.Why should i the customer be paying banking fees on debit orders that are incorrect and if they were to only take the pricelock plan premium ammount out of my account the debit order would have gone through. I had to pay my bank R500 in fees so i decided to cancel multichoice debit order on my account to avoid bank charges like this again. The next 3 months had passed and ive been so confused as i am only suppose to pay R949 on my dstv price lock plan and have been paying ammounts during the 3 months of R1100, R 1200 via eft ect.My dstv was then cut off and dstv saying that i owe them over R3000.00, i could not believe it and argued against it but to no result did dstv customer care try to even invertigate the matter. i then decided to cancel the entire deal as it has been a nightmare from day one.I agreed to pay off the ammount owing and the lady from customer care adviced me that i only still had to pay an ammount of about R2700 and the decoder will belong to me and no more funds would be allocated to my account.

I then received a call from dstv customer care the following day, they then were interested as to why i am cancelling the deal and informed me that this was a contract deal and they are unable to cancel it and i would still be liable for the ammount outstanding aswel as future ammounts even if i did not have viewing.

We then reached an agreement that outstanding ammount on my account would be divided over 12 months and be added to my R949, i would then need to pay R1172.46 via eft every month.

I kept to this arrangement even tho everything does not make sence to me and i paid as agreed ammount, only to be disconnected every two days.waisting so much airtime to contact the customer care everytime they do this.

The first time i was disconnected the lady from customer care told me she can see the arrangement and that it is the price lock department that keeps disconnecting me and that she will reconnect me.

The second time the exact situation happened as above and i begged customer care to please make sure that there is notes on the system to show my arrangements and she assured me that there is and reconnected me again.

Last nigt i was disconnected for the third time, i had to leave my house again to go and purchase minutes for my phone. Phoned customer care once again only to be told that there is no arrangements on my account and that the full ammount is outstanding, afer much frushtration and explaining the consultant agreed to swith my dstv on again and then informed me that he cannot guarantee that my dstv wont be cut again and has also reffered my account to the billing department

I am beyond embarrassed by dstv and disgusted in the service i have received so far and i have no choice but to refer this whole situation to the consumer council to seek some advice as i do not know what to do further.

I am now paying for a service i do not receive, no compensation for periods that ive been disconnected and no explanations as to what the hell is going on.

Is there no one in dstv to investigate the above? Is phone calls not recorded?
