Poor Service and Breach of Security

On the Tuesday, 7th March 2017 I went DSTV Customer Service centre (Randburg) to resolve some queries. Upon arrival I parked my car on designated parking at 18:14 (within your enclosed premises) and lock my car using my remote key. When I arrive there was about 10 -12 cars on the parking and no sign of the Security Offices patrolling the area. Physical I checked the door to ascertain that they were locked, I then walk into the building and pick my queue ticket at 18:16.

I sat with Agent for about 4-5 minutes to conclude my issues. I then walk out, as I approach the area where my car was parked, I pulled out my key to open my car, normally when opening the car light automatically goes on but in this case they did not come on and that alerted me that something is wrong. I then went and open the backdoor of the car, I then discovered that it was unlocked and appeared that someone broken into my car. I checked on my valuables and discovered that my work laptop, two external hard drives, lunch bag were ****** or taken out of the car.

Immediately I went to alert the Security Officers, who were stationed at security check point in the building about incident. We then all went to the parking and explain what happened to them. Hoping that they can help me to pull out the surveillance and register the incident. They told me that they cannot help me at moment. The security supervisor then called their senior manager by the Name of Dawid Roux telephonically, who told them that I must go to Linden Police Station to open the case and I must come to see him the following day. I then left the premise without help.

On Wednesday, 08th March 2017, I went and see Dawid Roux and explain my situation to him. And he told me that there are no surveillance cameras install in or around the premises beside those installed in gate to record vehicles number plate or vehicle registration numbers. I also asked him why there was no security Officers on the parking or patrolling the area. He told me that they do not have capacity to do that and all patrol vehicles were withdrawn months. After fewer question interaction, he told me that there is not much he can do for me and that perhaps I should take up the matter with Customer Service centre management.

I then went up to Customer service centre to meet up with the management team. Where I Meet up with two line managers namely Mathidiso Mokhotsi and Metsing Selema. I have explained everything to them about the incident and my unpleasant interaction with their Head of security.

They asked me to write an email explain the whole thing and they will then forward it to the most senior for discussions and consideration. They will notify me of the outcome thereof. I have since sent the email on 10th March 2017 and follow up on 22nd March 2017 with no answer.

I feel much violated by the whole thing and the fact that your security Personnel abdicated their responsibility. And now these line managers are not giving this matter the attention it deserves. Multichoice must take full responsibility for their action and ensure that their customers grievances are promptly and satisfactory resolve.

My problem and question is that, why a company of such Magnitude of Multi-Choice could compromise their client security like this? If DSTV Multi-Choice real cares about their customers, you should ensure their safety at all time.

I mean continuous patrol of the security Offices could have prevented this from happening or perhaps surveillance camera could have captured the perpetrator so that the police could pursue the case or even better to alert you to be on the looked out for these perpetrators, I have suffered a loss amounting to +- R 11,000.00 as result of poor security or inefficient security on your premises. Now your customer care management are giving me a bad responsiveness, this simply implies that they don’t care about my loose and value me less.
