Poor service

On the 1 of July I paid my dstv account at a pick and pay. I then called the DSTv contact center to find out if I had a balance due on the account. The advisor told me that I was in credit. Without my initial consent she then reconnected my services. Alarmed that I would have to pay again on the 7th I asked her if my services stayed on, what would I have to pay. She again advised that I was in credit and this credit would roll over to august. I then said it was fine and asked about the different packages which they offer. Before ending the conversation I again confirmed the amount that I would have to pay on the 7 of august and that I was in credit. Again I was advised that this was correct.

Today I turned on my TV and found that my services are suspended. I called DSTV to find out the reason and was told that I have an overdue amount on the account. I explained what I was told on the 1st of July and was advised that there was nothing they could do. I asked to be escalated and was then pass to a supervisor. The supervisor and advisor where extremely poor in their attitude towards me. I explained that I would not have reconnected my services on the first if I was advised that I had an amount to pay on the 7th as there was not anything which I wanted to watch. I also explained to measures I took to be certain that I would not have to pay anything on the 7th July. The supervisor then said that she would listen to the call but nothing would be done about my situation and that I would still have to the amount due on the account. I then asked to speak to a manager as it was unacceptable that I would be liable for misadvise from their part. She said there was not any available and was given a SLA of 48hours.

I am extremely disappointed in the level of customer service which received from their contact centers. We have been loyal customer for the past 10years and always had the full package but we never had such poor service. I definitely am considering closing my account if what the supervisor and advisor said is correct. If there is no solution is found by the manager I will proceed with legal action as the way I have been mistreated by DSTV it is unacceptable.

Dear Mr Stellenboom

Thank you for taking your time and bring this matter to our attention.

We apologise for the poor customer experience you received from our call centre agent.

When we received an amount of R70.15 on the 13th June 2016, this amount paid had to settled the overdue balance that was in your DStv account. On the same day we received R330.00 your account was on credit. However, this credit was insufficient to cover your DStv service till the 06 August 2016.

Currently, your DStv account has an overdue balance of R297.19.

The total balance required for the reconnection for your DStv service is R673.90 which will cover your service from today till the 06 August 2016.

Thank you for your time and patience.

Kindly do notify us should you require any further assistance.

Regards

Dinah
