Poor Customer Service
I would like to share my experience recently at Multi Choice Megacity on the 15 November 2017, I had visited the branch on Saturday to register for a prepaid package including installation. I was assisted by a young lady though I can't clearly remember her name , she advised me to make a payment of R 600 for the installation and wait for the installer to come through either on Monday or Tuesday. The installer came on Tuesday to install the satellite disc and connection cable and the last instruction from Saturday was to collect the decoder at the branch afterwards . I then after work went with my wife to the branch to collect the decoder and I first had to select the package for the channels. When I request assistance with the relevant packages and the differences I was just handed a photo copied document with the prices on them and the channels, this was my first area of concern as I was expecting some guidance as I wanted specific channels for me and my children. So I would have appreciated some guidance to have more information on selecting the appropriate package. Then I was handed over the Subscription Agreement Schedule and told to fill in my details and sign , again no explanation what I was signing I was only told not to fill in you banking details. When I tried to read the document I was given a very big sigh and the other team members around the lady started gossiping . I am not sure what they were saying but I could feel all attention was on us , as I needed to know just the basic terms and conditions before officiating the document. After we signed she made a comment that is the first time we are going to have DSTV. This was rather insulting as whether or not that was relevant the point of the entire exercise was to have patrons like be a part of the DSTV Network. We then were instructed to proceed to cashier across the hall , where they would set the decoder for us with the package we had selected. The name of the cashier was Phindile Cele who was very unfriendly and had a straight face and no smile, again I had a question for her with the packages as the was a handwritten amount of R20-00 on the photocopied document of prices which was supposedly to be added to the package fee of R 365. She was very off when I asked her this and my wife noticed that she hadn't clearly explained and proceeded to explain to me how she understood it. It was that we had selected the 15 of every month as the payment date and we had come on the 14 to activate the service so , in essence we had to pay for the one day in advance as a once off. When I returned the photocopied document to the first lady I could tell that the whole team of ladies had started talking about us and I was stared at quite harshly. I went back to the cashier to check the items in the decoder box by then I could hear their voices of the ladies behind the first counter rising in conversation. I have a problem with my experience and would sincerely appreciate intervention here from someone senior in the company. Firstly we are situated in predominantly African society, the vast majority of the shoppers here usually battle with reading and understating system and procedure. If you have frontline staff that has got such unbecoming attitudes with people who could be possibly illiterate and confused. What message is Multi Choice sending to our community as a business with regards to ensuring all Megacity patrons are treated fairly with respect and dignity. I am so upset that I am even considering cancelling the whole package.
