Pay per channel wanted...
Great sports channels!! The history and nature channels are amazing too but I would like to understand why we as loyal customers are not given the choice to choose and pay for only the channels that we watch? Dstv has hundreds of channels of unwatchable channels. The premiums continue to rise, yet we constantly pay for 90% of the channels that we have no interest in or watch. Why are we not given the opportunity to choose and pay for the channels that we want and only watch?

MultiChoice appreciates that we have a vast spread of preferences in South Africa, therefore the necessary measures are taken to try and accommodate as many of these as possible. This is also why there is a general spread of different types of channels on our packages, of which the DStv Premium package includes all the channels that we have on offer.
Extensive research has been invested into the concept of offering smaller, individually selected packages to a limited number of subscribers and this has proved to be higher price per package than broadcasting the full packages of channels to all our subscribers.
DStv channel suppliers carefully structure commercial deals for the sale of their channels and clearing rights for a territory is an expensive exercise. It is for these reasons that we determine the channels selected for our packages. We work closely with channel suppliers to ensure that our programming meets the quality standards required for a premium Pay-TV platform.

08 Jan 2021, 16:30Thank you for your kind reply, I really appreciate it. I understand that you have a variety of packages already, my wife snd I have the premium package. Any other package just does not have all the sports channels which we usually only watch! You say you gave a few dstv customers the chance to choose their channels but it ended up costing more, then why are your individual prices per channel so high to make it more expensive?? It makes no sense considering the extreme customer numbers that use dstv. It just doesn’t make any logical sense!
