'Oh my G**' not recognised as swearing.......

<p>I phoned Multichoice to complain about the constant use of the phrase 'Oh my G**' on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network channels, as well as 'family' and 'PG13' movies on Catch-up. The lady I spoke to merely advised that the phrase is not recognised as a swear word and cannot be removed, yet if you watch any movie on the movie channels, it has the option to select 'Family language' where the specific phrase or any other reference to God is blanked out???</p> <p> </p> <p>Furthermore, movies on Catch-up does not have this option? We watched a PG 13 movie with our kids the other day and had to switch it off as they kept on saying 'Jesus', 'Jesus Christ' and 'Oh my God'!!!??? It is rediculous that my Gods' name can be used in vain, but other swear words are removed? It doesn't make sense :( :( :( :(</p>

Hi Elna,

There isn't even ONE movie, series or kids' show on Catch-up that DOES allow for language to be set to Family. We wanted to watch Deadpool the other day, but we do not like swearwords. We switched it off after a mere 10minutes since the swearing was so bad!!!!

You can check out Gravity Falls and Game Shakers (305) that keeps on using God's name and has NO Family language option.

Masterchef Junior that started airing Monday (I think) on Channel 101 has the little kids saying Oh My God for every single thing and AGAIN absolutely NO option to select Family Language where it is taken out.

I find it extremely hard to understand why you would ask me to list the programmes - why not just switch on your TV at the office and try to select family language on any Catch-up programme? Goldberg's is another one! On Catch-up you cannot blank out swearwords, but on the normal channels you can select Family language? What exactly is so WOW about having Catch-up if you have to endure the swearing?????????????

Hi Elna, this is not limited to SonyMax and especially not only reality shows? How did you miss that one??

The problem is that not even ONE movie, series or documentary on Catch-up has the option of family language to block it out?????? Furthermore, channels such as Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel all make use of the phrase and also do not have the function to select family language to block it out??? It makes me sic****! How is that being sensitive to religious believes?

I am sure if the phrase was 'Oh Allah' or 'Oh Mohammed' you would very quickly tend to the issue and have the functionality added to these channels??? PLEASE STOP USING MY GOD's NAME IN VAIN!!!!!!!!!You must surely be able to sort this out?!
