NO Customer Service for the Elderly

My Father is 90 years old, is fairly tech savvy and very deaf. I managed to convince my parents that they would enjoy the switch to the Explora - even though they would need to learn a new menu system. I then arranged to take my father to Multichoice on a Saturday as there is no point in him trying to communicate with anyone over the phone. We duly explained the situation to them and that he would take the all inclusive fixed price option. The next day I received a phone call because obviously he could not, but when the person learned that I was not the client theysaid that they needed him. I explained that we had been there the day befpore and that doing the upgrade telephonically was a bad idea BUT unfortunately they just aren't capable of doing things in a sensible way - everything has to be on the phone or online. So I went online and I cannot figure out how to do the upgrade. Something is seriously lacking in their systems and customer service...

So though Multichoice have tried to process my fathers application, there has been little response in the way of customer service - even the communication he has received has been brief and with little concern for the customer. This leads me to believe that Multichoice don't do customer service and are ill equipped to deal with customers who need someone to give a decent response or talk to customers like people. At this point we are waiting for the installers to return as Multichoice failed to communicate with my parents and so the installation details need to be sorted out. Even while this happens their current DSTV is deteriorating constantly - restarting multiple times in an evening. Where is the value and customer service in all of this - a premium is paid but nothing of value is returned unless it is automated.
