NO COMMITMENT TO SECURITY WHATSOEVER!!!

I have an Explora Ultra connected to the internet. I found out on Sunday 03/04/2022 that my nephew who is 13 years old created a Netflix Account using the decoder and as a result I have been paying R 199 since January for something I do not even know.

My argument which DSTV seems not to understand is where is protection of the account holder against unauthorised subscriptions. All that was required to link the Netflix Account I do not know was details already available on the device itself which is the account number and serial number. No password protection or even an SMS or email approval by the account holder.

See their response below:- "Please note that Netflix its also cancelled from our side, however there's no credit for us to refund cause the activation was done on your side unfortunately we can not reverse charges. To avoid kids having access or activating unauthorizing subscription kindly set up a Parental control to lock the apps."

Parental control is not meant to prevent unauthorised subscriptions.
