No call, No email, No SMS. Just handover accounts for R100
Today I received an sms and a call from a collections company who have apparently been authorized by yourself to collect a total amount of R101.45 from me for a service that was long since cancelled. I spoke to a lady (Janine Patrick) on your live chat to understand what this is about and she did her job in explaining, which I fully understood. What bothered me greatly is that I have never been told of this amount until you handed me over for it. I proceeded to ask Janine why I was never told and she mentioned that a number of SMS’ were sent to me on the matter. Upon investigation of her system, the last sms that was sent to me was back in Oct 2020 and had nothing to do with the abovementioned amount. All of this, from a company that has all of my contact details (which Janine confirmed). My standpoint is: Had I been notified of this, I would’ve immediately paid it. Because your organization failed to contact me for so many months until a decision was made to hand me over, YOU WILL WRITE OFF THIS DEBT IN THE SAME BREATH. THEN YOU WILL GET THAT COLLECTIONS COMPANY TO SEND ME CONFIRMATION OF THE DEBT BEING WRITTEN OFF. You may think i’m a cheapskate and its a mere R100 note but, l am not one to be bul**** by large institutions especially those that have the power to ruin your life with just a click of a button on the CREDIT BUREAU! I EXPECT THIS ISSUE TO BE EXPEDITED AS EASILY AS IT WAS FOR YOU TO HAND ME OVER.
