Multichoice Refuses to Assist Grieving Family with Account Transfer
My father passed away recently, and we have been trying to transfer ownership of his account to my mother's name. We contacted Multichoice on numerous occasions to request their assistance with this matter, but we were met with unhelpful and insensitive responses.
Firstly, Multichoice refused to deal with me as my father's son, who was trying to handle the matter on his behalf. Instead, they insisted that they would only deal with the lawyers handling his estate. This was a frustrating and unnecessary step that added unnecessary complication and cost to the process. I asked if we couldn’t just end his subscription and create a new one in my mother’s name and was told that is not possible either.
To make matters worse, Multichoice is now telling the lawyers that they need to go into the offices to change ownership. This is an absurd request. It is an unacceptable expectation to put on grieving family members who are trying to manage the affairs of their loved ones.
This situation is incredibly disappointing, and it is unacceptable that Multichoice has done nothing to even attempt to assist us during this difficult time. The lack of compassion, sensitivity and understanding shown by your representatives is simply appalling.
