DSTV has got an app. On the app they have introduced "Rewards", where every few months or so they have some giveaways. 1 giveaway I received on the 13th March was a R250 voucher on a feature they had called Easy Sundays that I could redeem at particular stores. The codes they give for these giveaways are usually redeemed on www.dstvrewards.co.za. I was never able to redeem that voucher, even after countless messages to them.
Then on the 26th March I won a free one month package upgrade, which I never got. In place of that, I was given credit on my account. On the 2nd April, my debit of R409 went off like it was supposed to. A few days or weeks into April, when I checked my account on the app, it showed -R1 600 odd. I called them on their call centre line (I cannot remember the date, but surely if they trace their accounts they will find the call) to find out what that was about. They told me because of my winnings on the Spin the Wheel, my account was credited. I then asked if this would come back to say I owe then at some point and I was assured not to worry. I would check the account every few weeks and it showed I was in credit. The last credit showed a few days before the 2nd July, and it showed I had a credit of R130. When I checked again on the 1st July, it all of a sudden showed that I owed them R149, but because I hadn't owed them anything before then, I didn't make provision in my bank account, so I did a manual payment of R149 as I knew the debit order would bounce. Prior July, in June, when I checked my DSTV account on the app, I was in credit of R539. When I checked the account again on the 1st June, I was all of a sudden owing them. I cannot remember the amount, but the debit order bounced. I queried it on their Facebook page on the 2nd June and no one could give me a response as usual. Coming back to this past weekend when i contacted the Call Centre, I went into the history of the Facebook chat and the message I sent on the 2nd June had been removed. It only shows the message I sent on the 3rd June for a follow up for my query of the previous day.
With my Auguat debit order that should be going off, last week Thursday when I checked on the app, I was owing the R409 which is my normal debit order amount. A group member on a group I belong to on Facebook made us aware the next Friday that DSTV was expecting a ridiculous amount as a debit order for her account. Lo and behold when I checked mine, I all of a sudden owed R948. When I contacted the call centre on Saturday, I spent over 30 minutes on the line with a Gordon, whi said she would contact me before the end of the day with her Team Leader. That didn't happen. I called again on Sunday and I spoke to Keabetswe who did call me back to advise me that Multichoice made a mistake on their side with credits, so I I owing them for a mistake they made. I asked how it was never checked when I initially called to find out about the odd R1600 credit, she couldn't answer me.
Multichoice and DSTV are ripping us off. They never have anything worthwhile, with repeats running from the 90s, yet I must be billed for a mistake an *********** person made.
I want this fixed before my debit date which is 2nd August. I am willing to pay the R409 I owe as that is what I made provision for, and not a cent more.
Best regards,
