Multichoice forcing customers to buy Explorer and

We had a dualview pvr1 and a HD decoder. In this way, we could watch 3 channels. This was convenient as my husband, daughter and mother had there own channels. Now Multichoice have deliberately sent an update that is incompatible with the pvr decoder. We are now forced to buy the Explorer plus another decoder to watch 3 channels separately. This means that we will have to pay an additional subscription which is unexceptable. Surely this is ******* and contravenes the Consumer Protection Act.

Hello Mulitchoice,

Please be advised if your SD PVR is still working, you can keep using it to access DStv services. If the decoder stops working, they can bring the old decoder and smartcard to one of the MultiChoice Walk-in Centres to trade it in for a new decoder at a discounted price.

If you bring in your SD PVR decoder when it stops working (along with your smartcard), we'll give you a DStv Explora for only R1 699 (that's a R300 discount on the normal purchase price).

Even if a customer's decoder is working today, it's a good idea for them to plan to replace it in the near future. Customers can choose not to take action and only replace their decoder when it stops working.
