End of last year, not sure of exact date, I bought a new Explora decoder and had a recognised installer come and upgrade the system. Shortly after this happened, I started noticing larger amounts be deducted off my bank account, and beginning of the year put my foot down and contacted Multichoice. They then proceeded to let me know that I have multiple packages loaded onto my account, which was false. Multichoice investigated and noticed that someone from the recognised installation company was phoning in and pretending to be me and add on packages on my account. Multichoice said I must go to the bank and have them reverse the amount and eft the balance owing. My bank informed me that this will have a negative impact on my credit rating as it is seen as a failed debit. Just to give an idea, I have been trying to buy a house for 2 years, and first point is to have an impeccable record, which to my understanding from my bank, is now tarnished. I lodged a complaint with multichoice which they assured me was sorted out. The following month (going into February) I again get double deducted on my account for Multichoice. I again phone in and they again say someone has phoned in and added packages on my account. Again I had to go to the bank and reverse the transaction and follow the same process. I went into Multichoice and revoked debit orders and said I will rather pay eft, which I did. Between end feb and today, I have to constantly phone in and have error codes cleared on my decoder, and they keep on saying it’s a break in transmission (E16-4 : your account is suspended) At this stage I was extremely disgruntled, as the way I understand it, Multichoice has no safety procedure in place to protect the account hold, and multichoice just allows anyone to load DSTV packages on anyones account. *****?? I have a knowledge in what ***** is, and from my understanding this qualifies.

This weekend that past, I again get E16 errors, I phone in and clear the error messages again. Please keep in mind, Every time I phone in, it’s on my cost which is extremely costly. The person that helped me clear the codes indicates there is no outstanding amounts on my account and I am paid up till end September this year. The ONLY reason I queried this is due to the error code “your account has been suspended”. I found this odd that I was paid up till the date stipulated, however, I assumed it was a repayment for all difficulty they have put me through and outstanding credits. This was not the case as I found out this morning when again, E16-4 error. When I phoned again this morning to proceed with the weekly ritual of resetting my error code/error code fixing, they operator indicated my account was suspended. To my surprise as 2 – 3 days earlier, I was paid up until end September. Never the less, I paid the amount request and my dstv turned on again. 15 minutes later, again, E16-4 error. I phone in again, and the person that answered the phone said I have no active packages on my account?????????????????
