Making us pay full price for a reduced service!!
<p>I have been a DSTV customer since the beginning. I currently have a Dual View HD PVR decoder and I pay full subscription.</p> <p> </p> <p>However, over the last while I noticed that the number of programmes on catch-up and the nuber of movies on Box Office have significantly reduced - thereby reducing my acces to the service I pay full price for.</p> <p> </p> <p>This is a ploy by DSTV to force loyal clients to purchase the new Explora and this is nothing less than breach of contract. </p> <p> </p> <p>I was told by the call centre that, if I want to access the full range of services I need to purchase the Explora. How can this be the view...!? I didn't agree to DSTV changing their service and hardware requirements, but I am now forced to incur additional expense to receive the service for which I am already paying full price.</p> <p> </p> <p>I am not purchasing an Explora and demand access to the full service as long as I am required to pay full price - alternatively DSTV can reduce my subscription fee.</p>

We stopped making SD PVR decoder's more than seven years ago as the costs to manufacture this decoder are higher, which would make it more expensive for customers, the parts and software to support it became expensive.
However you can still access DStv for as long as your decoder is working but won’t be able to receive selected services that will be placed on our new satellite. The new satellite gives us the capacity to enhance our DStv services by allowing us to add more content and channels.
You can, trade-in your active SD PVR at any of our service centres or agencies. There are three great trade-in deals!
Trade-in option 1 : get a brand new DStv Explora 2 for only R799 (the normal retail price is R1499). This excludes installation, so please chat to your local DStv Accredited Installer about any potential installation changes required.
Trade-in option 2 : get a DStv Explora 2 PLUS installation (with 80cm dish and DStv Smart LNB) for R999. This option is only suitable if you are able to make use of your own satellite dish.
Trade-in option 3 : get a DStv Explora 2 PLUS DStv HD Decoder PLUS installation (with 80cm dish & DStv Smart LNB) for R1999. This option is only suitable for customers who are able to make use of their own satellite dish.

Further if you have decoder insurance and suffer specific damage to this decoder, we’ll replace it with a new DStv Explora (at no extra cost, as per the conditions of the insurance). Installation changes may, however, be required.
