Lucifer moved due to ignorance

'As Christian South Africans we find the new series lucifer distasteful.' - Just don't watch it.<br> 'it is completely unacceptable to me that offensive series like Lucifer be televised.' - Don't watch it.<br> <br> Why are you pandering to these people? Why must a show I like be moved because certain people who belong to a religion which promotes acceptance and understanding are seemingly incapable of either. I will not even get into analysis of the biblical figure of Satan, who caused less death than God and promoted free will and a desire for knowledge, but simply complain about the fact that the feelings of a few random people have been given the voice of the entire country. <br> This is what I'd like to complain about the most though:<br> I'm offended by Comedy Central because I'm not very funny, I'm offended by the Action channel because I'm thin and scrawny, I'm single and unlucky in love so the Romance channel offends me deeply, I can't really cook so I'm offended by the Food channel...<br> To quote one of the other complainers of Lucifer, 'Either you remove the series in totality or cancel my service in totality. You have until Friday afternoon at 13:00.'<br>

Hello Nox41,

It is with regret that we learn of the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced.

At M-Net, there is a great focus on serving the viewing preferences of a diverse audience. Whilst we appreciate that Lucifer doesn't appeal to all of our viewers, it is scheduled on M-Net Edge, a channel which broadcasts edgy, provocative and highly-acclaimed series. This is not a channel for family-viewing and this is communicated to viewers. The Registrar of the BCCSA has agreed that Lucifer is a bona fide drama, and believes that by moving the programme to 23h00, and increasing the age restriction to 16 we have acted in a responsible manner.

In their opinion, the verbal and on-screen warnings at the start of the programme affords parents and sensitive viewers an opportunity to make an informed choice as to whether to watch or not. We also understand that some people may like to block certain content. By activating the parental control function on your decoder, this is possible. On certain decoders, you are also able to block the entire channel.

Regards

Nesta
