LOST R4000 THROUGH AT THE BEST DSTV INCOMPETENCE AT THE WORST INTERNAL *****
In September, DSTV took a debit order on my account for +- R352. This debit order never reflected on my statement. When queried, DSTV told me "there is no debit order". In October, DSTV took a debit order rfor R809. This debit order never reflected on my statement. I didn't pay by EFT, thinking the balance paid by debit order should some time come through on DSTV's side. They cut off my service, charging R50 to reinstate. So I paid the whole "outstanding balance", which reflects on my statement. In November, DSTV took a debit order for R809. Again, I assumed the earlier debits plus this debit should be enough to cover for November - yet the payment again doesn't reflect on the statement, and yet again I was cut off and charged a R50 reconnection fee. Again I paid R899 by EFT. So I'm out of pocket R1970 by now. When I queried the e-mail helpline, they told me to send bank statements. I sent them bank statements - first screenshots. They told me "we can't use screenshots". I then sent PDFs - they asked for PDFs in the follow up mail yet again. I send the PDFs again - they reply back "They cannot open my attachments". I chatted to DSTV's Facebook team - first they told me "I cannot pay on behalf of my mother, so there isn't a debit order". When I pointed out but the debits ARE being taken, they told me "OK, but the debit orders are reversed because I can't pay on behalf of my mother". Fine - but where's the MONEY? The debit order appears on my statements, but NOT the reversals. So they told me "It's being reversed to my "Gold Credit Card" - to which I asked - WHICH card, since I don't HAVE a gold credit card. Then they told me I must ask the bank why it's being reversed - to which FNB rep**** "There is no reversal. They did not reverse these debit orders". Then I requested a letter from DSTV stating that they "reversed" these charges, and they told me "We don't give such letters because it's between me and the bank". Yet, the bank tells me it's between me and DSTV. So, the next chat DSTV tells me "Yes, there IS a debit order, but it is reversed due to insufficient funds". Which is nonsense, as the balance on the very bank statement clearly indicates. So, I decided to take matters in my own hands and requested FNB to reverse the debits immediately. Guess what - an SMS from DSTV saying "Your debit order (remember, which they first claimed doesn't exist, then claimed cannot be taken because it can only be taken from the account holder, then claimed it was taken but immediately reversed) was reversed. It will be taken on 17 December together with January's payment. Question - so how do you DETECT a debit order was reversed if you (a) never took the debit (b) or if it was reversed in the first place if (c) it didn't appear on my DSTV statement to begin with? So, guess what, they took their debit order as they promised - and guess what? It doesn't appear on my DSTV account - it only appears on my bank statement. And I can guess what DSTV is going to tell me: (a) There was no debit order (b) The debit order was reversed, I must check with the bank. And I can guess what FNB is going to tell me: (a) There is a debit order, and it was NOT revesed. And guess where I am left at? R4000 out of pocket in total by now. So this is a public report that DSTV is taking money from people. Check your bank statements for debit orders, and RECONCILE your statements with your DSTV accounts, because a LOT of you are being cut off and paying reconnection fees for an account that's not only up to date, but an account for which DSTV actually owes you money back. I've filed ***** charges with SAPS Lyttleton now - because I can no longer stand DSTV's incompetence in dealing with this issue anymore, and it's been going on for four months now - from the moment I activated a debit order. STAY AWAY FROM DEBIT ORDERS WITH DSTV. They have NO CLUE what they're doing.
