losing signal

My DSTV is losing signal. I have not done anaything to hardware etc and has dual tv. the 2nd tv is continually losing more and more signal. First i lost the dstv catchup and box office on this tv that was working perfectly. Now gradually more channels are becoming poor. channel 116? now 101 mnet is so bad i cannot watch or record a single program. 116? what is going on? i have phoned but call centre does not understand the problem. After years of working perfectly now suddenly the tv is too far to receive propper signal. And no, the tv is still in the same place. Have YOU tried to phone the call centre? what a nightmare? doing the same thing over and over again. and yes, the 2nd tv is not in the same room as the first tv. Please help

Hello Dinadp1,

The problem you are experiencing could be a result of either a faulty decoder or installation problems.

The first thing that you need to do is check that your satellite cables are correctly inserted into the back of your decoders.

Once this is done, check you satellite signal strength and quality on all tuners by following the below. You main picture comes through tuner one and Box Office / Catch Up comes through tuner 2.

Menu - advanced options - dish installation - 9949 - home network (overall status)

Menu - information central (for specific channel)

If your signal strength is less than 95% or your signal quality is less than 98% then the probability is that your bad signal is dish related. Normally accredited installers offer a three to six month guarantee after they have visited your property.

Now reset your device (switch off and on at power point), allow decoder to scan. If you still experience loss of signal, we recommend that you take both decoders to you nearest agency for testing first. If all is well, the agency will advise you on whether you need an installer.
