Loan made by dstv without informing client

My son inlaw were in arrears with his dstv, when we phoned them in November last year they informef my daughter that the full outstanding amount was just over R4000 not saying anything about a loan they took out in his name. Because I am paying the dstv I paid the full outstanding amount. When my daughter phoned them tonight they said the reason he has to pay R1400 a month is because of the loan they took out for his areas. Nothing was said about the loan in November. How can they just take a loan out in his name without even confirming this with him. The actual payment is R950 now he has to pay extra R456. I just feel this is ***** that was made by just takung out a loan against his name. Since when do they do this.
