Lawyers! Without notification of outstanding amount!

Each month, my husband received an SMS reminder to pay x-amount for our subscription. 2 months ago we decided to cancel our subscription. Today, my husband received a call from lawyers threatening legal action for an outstanding amount of R189. Not ONCE did he receive ANY form of prior notification regarding that amount! Now we are even happier that we got rid of DSTV and their overpriced repeats!!!

Reviewer Update
"Good day Edith Thank you for contacting us. According to our records, the balance owed has been settled. Regarding the notification, an update was sent to Mr Swart on the dates below regarding his DStv account: 06, 08 and 29 March 2018. 06 April 2018 19 April 2018 - Mr Swart was contacted and informed that the account is owing. In summary, the main account holder was aware of the balance owed in the account. Kind regards Dinah" Good day Dinah, Herewith my reply to your private message (as copied & pasted above): For DSTV Premium, we were paying R809 per month. My husband checked his phone for messages from DSTV - looking for the alleged "updates" regarding the outstanding R189 (an amount he only became aware of when DSTV's lawyer contacted him). He has the following "updates": 6 March = No message received; 8 March (10h35) ="We've stopped your DSTV as you've not paid. To reconnect, pay R839"; 8 March (15h38) = "Thank you! We've received payment and have reconnected your services." 29 March = "Couch, remote but no DSTV? Don't miss any of your favourite shows - Pay R809 today"; 29 March = "Feel every moment with DSTV! To stay connected, please pay R809 before 01/04"; 6 April = "Your DSTV acc is overdue. To continue viewing, you need to pay R809 today"; 19 April = No message received. Thereafter, no communication from DSTV was received. In response to, "In summary, the main account holder was aware of the balance owed in the account.": As you can see, the only amount the main account holder was informed about was R809 - he was NOT informed about the outstanding R189 before DSTV's lawyer contacted him. We paid the R189 just to finally be rid of DSTV! This matter, in our opinion, is now closed.
