Is there a more narcissistic and arrogant company in South Africa?

DStv/Multichoice/MNet - don't even know what they call themselves anymore - has just announced that they are once again cutting intellectual documentary channels, (History, Crime, etc.) and introducing utter drivel. Do we need a shopping channel, two fashion channels, a host of poor local music channels, and channels focusing on empty-header celebrities, both local and international.

But it doesn't end there. There was originally a promise to not interrupt shows with boring adverts, but try and watch something popular, like CSI or Father Brown, and you are incessantly bombarded with adverts. And the self-promotion of their own stuff is so irritating, repeating over and over the same ******* about what is showing elsewhere, and, of course, letting everyone know how wonderful they are in developing people and giving their staff undeserved shares. (Undeserved because their staff are so incredibly poor at customer service.)

When you are losing more than 10000 subscribers every month, when your customers feel utterly betrayed by unilateral decisions, when even your decoders don't seem to be able to do anything without a daily reboot that takes four minutes, and when you are faced with cheaper and better competition, it seems very short-sighted to further alienate your customers by not keeping promises.

For just under R1000 a month, I'm out. Useless company, useless managers, useless people.
