Insulted by a call center person

On the morning of Friday the 30th of March I called DSTV in connection with my account. I was a little confused or perhaps misinformed about my subscription.

I had just paid my subscription, in excess actually. I wanted to rent a box office movie, a message came up that I don't have enough credit to do so.

So I called them, a lady answered and proceeded to explain to me that I had to transfer funds from my subscription account to my box office account to do so, I was not aware that it worked that way. Never the less, I was informed that if I didn't pay a again before the 2nd April, i would be disconnected again. I asked a few times how much, obviously a bit confused now because I had just paid, when she gave me the amounts, it was 2 different amounts, i asked her to explain clearly which amount it was because by now I was completely in the dark, first 1 amount then another.

I then asked her to get the correct amounts for me because in fact I have not received a statement from DSTV in months.

This entire conversation to this point took place in English....she then VERY RUDELY asked me "kan dit dit vir jou mooi verduidelik in Afrikaans!?" and I mean VERY RUDELY!

OBVIOUSLY this upset me because what is she trying to insinuate? For me, that was extremely insulting. I kept my cool and asked to speak to a supervisor...after holding for a period of time, I finally was put on with a gentlemen, he could not give me answers and told me he is only standing in as a supervisor, I asked him to put me through the lady's boss, he couldn't and told me he would get this senior person to call me back. I demanded that they call me before 12 o'clock. He assured me that this would happen.

This was the 30th of March. This morning 9th of April, I was disconnected again, with no phone call back from DSTV. Obviously I did not pay an amount because clearly there is a problem with my account and I want answers.

If I owe them money, fine but no response from DSTV is unacceptable. The fact that I was assured of a phone call and never received it after being insulted that way is not on.

So now I sit without DSTV not due to fault of mine, but fault of DSTV treating their customers so badly.
