Incorrect information by consultant now costing me nearly R3,000

I called MultiChoice customer care as my Explora kept on freezing which meant rebooting it on a daily basis. I was told to try and reset the Explora to the default setting and the consultant explained to me how to do this. I specifically asked if it would result in me losing all my recordings and catch up and she said no, not if I just reset it to the default. Also asked if it would affect anything else and she said no. Then asked her that, if the problem persists and I bought a new recorder if I would have to have it installed and set up again and she advised I could just plug it in and it would work. I opted to try the reset/restore to default option first and needless to say this has messed up everything as I am now unable to access Xtraview as it messed up the settings and the HD PVR no longer works and says there is no connection. The Explora also goes off and gives and error message for a few seconds every couple of minutes. I then bought a new Explora and lo and behold, it does not work as all the plugs on the back are different. I am now sitting with an brand new Explora I cannot use AND have to now get someone out to come and try set up my system again. All of this is now going to cost me - R999 for the Explora and approx R1,800 to get someone out to sort out the mess!!!
