How DSTV treat their longstanding customers.

I have been a customer with DSTV for about 25years, have a premium contract with them, which since its inception has been paid via a debit order through my bank, and have never missed a payment to them in 25 years. I am presently paying a monthly premium of R879,00 pm which includes insurance on my decoders, and on seeing their advert for the Explora decoder at R949 which is set for 2 years I figured that I would take up this offer, as it would only cost me an additional R70,00 per month + the insurance which I am alread paying.

I filled in the online application for this, and was contacted by one of their consultants, who after asking me for my life history, even though I am a long standing customer, and all my details are on record, asked me to hold on for a few minutes while she submitted my application. after a few minutes she came back to me, and to my utter amazement, advised me that my application had been declined. I asked her for a reason and she stated that DSTV credit division stated that I could not qualify, as I could not afford it. I advised her that I had retired from Standard Bank in 2009,after 25 years service ',and that I would never take up any contract unless I knew I could afford it. I also advised her that I had probably one of the highest credit ratings with my bank, and had never had a bad debt against me in my life.

Another thing that I have noticed is that they advertise DSTV Premium at R759pm, but have been overcharging me R51,00pm, as my monthly payment is R810,00 pm and this may have been happening for I dont know how long.

In conclusion all I can say is that the way they treat their long standing customers stinks, when customers like myself with an immaculate payment record over more than 20 years, gets this sort of treatment. Firstly for declining my application, and secondly for charging customers who have suuported them for decades, more than the present advertised price for DSTV Premium. As i have been paying R51,00 above the advertised price on DSTV Premium, for heaven knows how many years. and would like to know if Iam I not entitled to a refund for this overpayment,??

In reply to your acknowledgement of my complaint, not enquiry, and seeing that you want to know the life history of your longstanding customers I will share my history with you. I started work at the age of 15 after passing standard 7,and worked in construction, in the municipality, various building societies, and through hard work and study, ended my career in 2009 with Standard Bank, where I retired in a managerial position,
In total I worked for 47years, with my last 25 years being with Standard Bank, I have also been married for 46 years and in all that time, I cannot recall ever having a bad debt against me. Further to this, I have probably the highest credit rating possible with my bank, with large credit facilities available to me, if I need them .
My total pension investment, plus my personal investments, together with my assets, are well over 2,5million, however I only draw out as much as I need to live, as I reside in a flat that I built above my sons residence, and have no rent, lights, water, or rates to pay.
In view of this I do not need, or appreciate some young consultant of yours, telling me that probably some equally young, and inexperienced employee in your credit division, advised her that I do not qualify for your Explora deal, as I cannot afford an additional R70,00 pm, as I well know, what I can, and cannot afford. At 69years old, and having raised a family who never wanted for anything, I believe that I am far more intelligent, and experienced in financial matters, than probably 90 % of your DSTV employees.
Also when you answer peoples complaints, or enquiries, give this function to someone who is proficient in the English language, as "we are acknowledge", is grammatically incorrect.
