Handed over for R300.00

I received a call from Shapiro attorneys this morning advising me that my DSTV account has been handed over.

I only use the services during school holidays....and as such connected my services end of November 2016 and requested a disconnection in the first week of January 2017 when school reopened.

The previous two years (2014 and 2015)DSTV failed to disconnect services as requested in mid December, before i went away on vacation and they conveniently did not find the calls i made requesting the disconnection and i was held liable to pay for not viewing. (all criteria regarding the disconnection had been met ie. one disconnection per month and the day when payment is due or before).

Last year (2016) we did not go away on vacation hence the disconnection request was done in January 2017, but this was never done, every day i would call them to advise that i had requested a disconnection and was advised that on their systems it showed the it was inactive and the signal was disconnected.

I then change over to openview until i need the dstv again.

Now this morning i get a call saying that DSTV has handed me over for defaulting in my payments. I always make payments in advance before using the service. She says i have been receiving signal and not paying my premiums, i advised her that i have not defaulted in payments and tried to explain what happened.

At no stage did DSTV even send me a message to advise an amount is outstanding.

DSTV is fond of not disconnecting the services and asking people to pay despite not using their services.
