Give me my money back

I went to checkers to pay my TV License. 2 weeks later i was still getting final notices to pay. Long story short i found out the lady at checkers paid my money into a DSTV account that was supposed to be cancelled over 4 years ago. How that happens i do not know. I called DSTV to ask for a refund. They say that they see the money reflecting but cannot process the refund without a receipt and a bank statement. I cannot take time out of work to get a bank statement and i have misplaced the receipt. Lets be reasonable here. You see that the payment went into my "cancelled account" I simply want my money back.
