Forget Customer convenience, but fine for DSTV!

We have a number of DSTV subscriptions & contracts paid via debit order. All of which we have had for many years (NB DSTV ...Old, reliable customer!)
Some bright spark in accounts / policy has now decided on a rather onerous procedure, for which no doubt he / she has had a salary increase.
Subscribers who have holiday contracts, may no longer include this subscription in their debit order. Process involves...
Step [URL Removed] logging onto webpage & registering.
Step 2. submitting credit card details.
Step 3. Phoning call centre to discover whether they have received these.
Step 4. Paying an arbitrary amount.
Step 5. Topping up when one has arbitrarily discovered one is low on funds
Obviously this system works for DSTV, and obviously their customers have copious free time to phone call centres etc.
Any other dissatisfied customers out there?
