FORCEFULL REPLACEMENT OF DUALVIEW PVR DECODER
I have a perfectly working Dualview PVR Decoder . Whenever I call the DSTV/Multichoice call centre when I have a messed up channel menu showing channels I am not described for, an agent keeps on telling me to take in my perfectly working DSTV Dualview PVR Decoder as they will not be \supporting the software\" in future. Will I be the only DSTV customer complaining about this? Will everybody else be accepting the fact that you have to pay R 1400-00 for a new Explora which according to a few sites on the net, is not Dualview? Which means you will have to buy a second decoder for R 1400-00 which will accumulate to R 2800-00 exclusive of installation ? Why are we (the customer) forced to spend money without wanting to, when we have a perfectly working device? Why are we forced to change to a appliance which does not have the same working qualities and which we do not want ? And to pay for it ? "
We fully understand your frustration and irritation.
We will not be able to repair the SD PVR decoder as the parts are not available any more. These decoders can't cope with the growing number of DStv services on offer, even though they were able to many years ago. We will also not be able to continue to support the software on these decoders.
When your SD PVR was first released, we only had a handful of channels on DStv -there are now over 100. Your SD PVR has reached the stage where it won't be able to cope much longer with the growing number of services. Your decoder may experience missing channels, an incomplete TV guide or even freeze-ups.
Also, we're launching a new satellite at the beginning of 2017, which will position our channels on low and high band frequencies. Unfortunately the SD PVR decoder can only get low band frequencies. This means that customers will lose out on any channels or services made available on high band.
Indeed our solution for dual viewing was to introduce Xtraview - where you can connect two decoders and still pay only one subscription fee , plus the monthly access fee.
Hope the above information clarifies.
