False Advertising

I recently decided to revert to DSTV for my children, after having left them some years ago. I then duly took up the “Black-Friday” deal when the opportunity presented itself. The deal was for R499 p/m over 12 months. On the 10th December 2019 my service was connected, Without Notice, it was then duly disconnected on the 25th December 2019. I had to pay R680 to reconnect. However, on the 28th January 2020 my service was then duly disconnected again Without Notice. Again, I had to pay R616 to reconnect. I have a running debit-order instruction, but notwithstanding this fact, the service is still disconnected. That is not the main thing, but the fact that I have not yet paid the R499, which I signed up for.

The Call-Centre is so dysfunctional and you have to rather take a 20-minute drive to the nearest Contact-Centre and que endlessly, as there are only two centers in the Pretoria area for that purpose. I feel duped and I am afraid that I cannot recommend DSTV to anyone else. Therefore, I am of the opinion that I was essentially sold the contract under “False Pretenses”, just for the sake of enrolling as many people as they can.

I am profoundly disappointed and find this conduct by Multichoice-DSTV very regrettable. I already complained to senior management in an extensive letter, but to date, not a single person has bothered to respond. In the greater scheme of things, this would be unacceptable to the normal person on the street.

Alternatively, am I perhaps being facetious in assuming that good customer is reserved only for a select few or a certain sector of the community for that matter. This whole matter invariably leaves a bad taste and I am sure that you would agree that no person should be subjected to this atrocious customer service. In fact, it has strengthened my resolve and I feel justified in pursuing this matter through all the avenues at my disposal. I feel I have no other alternative to bring this unsatisfactory conduct to the attention of DSTV senior management. I, therefore, please need someone in management to please convince me to not cancel the contract as I see no point in continuing with their service if this is the service that I am subjected to.
