Extremely Poor Service and Security Failure by DStv

Subject: Extremely Poor Service and Security Failure by DStv Dear HelloPeter, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against DStv regarding the extremely unprofessional way my account has been handled, and the failure of their systems to protect my personal information. Someone residing in Johannesburg managed to gain unauthorized access to my DStv account and changed my personal details. This individual also activated an internet bundle on my account without my consent. I only became aware of this breach when my monthly bill increased by over R499. I immediately contacted DStv to report the matter. They assured me that the issue would be resolved within 24 to 48 hours. However, two months later, the issue remains unresolved. Instead of taking corrective action, DStv has now disconnected my account entirely. When I followed up again, I was told by a DStv representative that I needed to pay R970 to have the account reconnected, which I did — but my service was still not restored. Upon calling again today, I was informed that I now need to pay an additional R900+ to reconnect the service. Despite making these payments and multiple calls, my account remains inactive. Now I am being told that the matter is with the ***** Department, and they will "listen to the call recordings" to investigate what I was told previously. This runaround is unacceptable and shows a clear lack of accountability on DStv's part. I have been a loyal DStv customer for over 25 years, and I am extremely disappointed in how this matter has been handled. The lack of urgency, security, and customer care is shocking and not what I would expect from a company of DStv’s stature. I demand the following: Immediate reactivation of my DStv account. Full investigation into how my details were changed without my consent. Refund of any unauthorized charges related to the internet bundle. An apology for the inconvenience and stress caused. If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will consider escalating it to relevant consumer protection authorities. Kind regards, Renier Williams *** ***
