EXPLORER - FALSE ADVERTISING

Dstv is advertising Explorer for R99-00 a month. Beware this is FALSE --they do not tell you that there is extra costs - R75-00 access fee and R52-00 for using the recording - rewind and ability to record. These fees are not mentioned anywhere. How can they advertise you can use the explorer to do recording rewind ext. but nowhere does the extra costs feature. Not even in the telephonic application for a R99-99 contract for a explorer. And I must say - we have more \no signal due to bad weather or faulty installion"than ever!!!! We are going to report this to the advertising ombudsman and definitely cancel this \""great offer\"""""

Hello TROUBLES IN LIFE,

In our advertising we refer all our customers to our Terms and Conditions which does provide information on the R75.00 monthly PVR access fee.

Rain fade(temporary loss of signal) usually only occurs in very heavy rain and bad weather and should only last for a few seconds. We estimate that only about 0.1% of annual viewing time is lost as a result of rain interference. If you experience rain fade for longer than 1 to 2 seconds, you may have an installation problem.

The error you are receiving can be caused by either a faulty decoder or installation problems. Normally accredited installers offer a three to six month guarantee after they have visited your property. Now if your signal strength is less than 95% or your signal quality is less than 98% then the probability is that your bad signal is dish related. To check this follow the below:

Help - General information - tuner status

First check that your satellite cables are correctly inserted into your multi switch and then into your decoder.

We do however; always recommend that you test your decoder first before contacting an installer as the testing is free.
