I purchased a brand new Explora in July 2014, however it malfunctioned in September (3 months later) - no signal. The technician who did the installation took the decoder to The Satellite Shop in Vincent (EL) who swopped it for a 'replacement' unit. September 2015, hard drive of decoder crashes. Took it back to The Satellite shop who indicated that I need to pay R600 if I wanted a 'replacement' decoder. Staff not friendly or helpful. At one stage I thought I was still talking to the Manager of the shop when he just walked away from me. Stunned, I took decoder home again. I then called the Dstv call centre in PE & after speaking to a consultant, I was connected to a supervisor who told me that Dstv outsources the manufacturing of the Explora and that they cant be held liable for quality thereof. The unit has no manufacturers name on it, only 'Dstv explora'. The supervisor then indicated that I would have to pay R600 to get a 'replacement'. Who is responsible for the quality of Explora decoder, Multichoice, Dstv, Pace or Vektronix who actually manufactures this product. An Explora only has a lifespan of 7 and a half months! Dstv please advertise as such so that your clients know.
