DStv (MultiChoice)'s replyOfficial
21 May 2020, 14:45Hi Hans,
It is an unprecedented moment in our modern lifetime as the world suffers the effects of the Covid-19 virus, which has impacted all sectors globally. We review our subscription fees annually when we do our planning for our new financial year. Multichoice had already announced the subscription adjustment before the rapid spread of the corona virus and lock down measures to be put in place by the government. Not all our packages have been adjusted some the subscription has remained the same to the as previous year. We have campaigns that we offer to our subscribers that see them pay a reduced subscription. Currently, the rental of Box Office movies has been reduced from R35,00 to R25,00, per rental of each movie. We have also increased our movie offering on the Box Office platform. Other channels have been opened to certain lower packages that would normally not contain these channel. The 24 hour news channels have been opened to certain packages to keep the world informed about is happening globally. Since the start of the nationwide lock down, Multichoice did understand the need to play a role in keeping our subscribers entertained while at home, and also created offers that reduce the subscription to qualifying subscribers. Please do take note that as we continue to keep the broad cast of our channels running, this comes with costs. Infrastructure costs, system costs, channel procurement costs, and all other costs to our various suppliers.
Kind Regards,
DStv: Hello Peter Team
Best regards,
