On 29 October 2019, I had received an SMS from DStv(Multichoice) stating that the PVR function was activated for 30 days by at no cost to me. This was done without my consent. After the 30 days, this function was not de-activated by DStv(Multichoice) and I was billed for the following month. I did call to resolve this issue but had failed. Since then, I had paid my monthly subscription of R399 with no issues but always had the outstanding amount for the PVR function carried over. On 07 October 2020, my account was suspended due to a late payment. I paid the R399 monthly fee but had an outstanding amount of R119, of which R50 was the reconnection fee. I called the the call center on the same day and explained for the 2nd time that the PVR function was activated without my consent and should have been de-activated after 30 days. I was told that the PVR function stayed active after 30 days because I did not request for it to be canceled and had to pay the R119 to reactivate my account. I had asked the call center agent to check if the outstanding amount could be waived due to me not requesting the PVR function to be activated and which should have been canceled after 30 days. She checked and said that the amount cannot be waived but will take the matter higher up to be resolved and I should expect a call within 24hours. Charging someone for something that was not authorized buy them is wrong. It's a small amount but it's seems like DStv(Multichoice) does not have any business ethics and are trying to ****** as much money as they can from their customers. They must have done this to millions of other people who would have had to pay the extra fees which would have made them millions more. This is unacceptable. I await a response from DStv(Multichoice).
