DSTV *******

This has been my experience with DSTV.

I had a PVR decoder. One day the signal was lost thus I couldn't watch TV for a while. I phoned the DSTV customer centre and they said it must be an issue with my dish so I should call in someone to check it. I then called someone in and after paying call-out fees etc. I was told that my decoder was out dated and lost signal as the lastest update was not compatable. This then forced me to upgrade my decoder to a explora which included buying a new LNB and calling the installer out again to do the upgrade.

The explora was working fine until about a month and a half ago the explora started resetting every five minutes. I agian phoned DSTV and they said I must call out an installer. After again paying call-out fees etc I was told that it was an update that went wrong and I had to wait for DSTV to fix it. This took about 3 days for it to be fixed.

Now again I have lost signal on the explora and have been told to call an installer. I have been told by the installer that DSTV has compressed the signal to work with the new version of the exlora and now it needs a larger dish to operate. I now have called out an installer agian and I have to replace my dish and relocate the dish in order for it to work.

DSTV is costing me thousands. How can DSTV think this is acceptable!!!! Literally one of the worst companies I have dealt with.

Hi Jason

It is with regret that we learn of the frustration and inconvenience you have experienced with our service. Providing customers with unsatisfactory service is not in line with our ethic. Please accept our sincerest apologies in this regard.

The performance of the DStv Explora is directly related to the quality of the installation. The installation of the DStv Explora requires an 80cm satellite dish together with a DStv Smart LNB at your cost (including use of approved equipment and correct alignment of the satellite dish). If the DStv Explora is installed with any other type of LNB, the installation may require changes to receive future services.

Hence we recommend that all PVR installations must be done by our accredited installers.

We'll contact you shortly.

Regards

Girly

Best regards,

JC

The problem I am having is that I am spending unnecessary funds on what I mentioned in my review. I am using a smart LNB. I have only ever used accredited installers.

You say it must be covered at my cost, however, I was forced into replacing my old decoder for the explora. When I get told to call out an installer to later find out that my setup is fine it is a problem from your side is that also at "my cost"?

The dish was working perfectly. Why am I only experiencing problems now that the signal has been compressed. DSTV can't keep making mistakes and changes which then become "my cost"?

This whole situation has been more than fustrating.

Hi Girly.

Your service goes from bad to worse.

Post my compliant, and post you speaking with the installer - it was agreed that my current dish was fine and due to the signal (from you) being compressed to the Explora 1 to accommodate the Explora 2, my dish needed to be relocated. I have spent huge amounts of money since receiving my Explora (which was not by choice as mentioned in my initial review).

After chatting, you had offered to cover half of the cost for the last installer call out - the total bill came to R1600 but you agreed to credit R600 to my account. The credit was done and then reversed. I have called the call centre 3 times since chatting to you, have left numerous messages for you to please call me back (as I cannot call you directly) but you have not returned my calls nor finalised the credit.

I am absolutaly shocked by the level of customer service DSTV offers and I look forward to your phone call.
