DSTV Rewards - Engen Fuel Promotion

Beware of the R3m fuel voucher rewards promotion in conjunction with Engen.

I received an unsolicited communication from DSTV advising me that I qualified for a R300 voucher. I claimed the reward the following day (October 13) and received a congratulatory email and a voucher number. The next day I attempted to redeem the voucher. The code was, however, invalid.

What then followed was a series of fruitless emails and phone conversations with a call centre agent (you cannot speak to anyone else and only email the call centre).

After being initially advised that I did not qualify for the reward, I was finally advised on December 5 that the code had already been redeemed, and the matter was thus closed.

The only conclusions can be drawn are that the same code number was issued to more than one person or that the R3m (total promotion value) was redeemed in two days.

Whilst this may not be a ****, it certainly is ********* marketing!
