DStv Refuses to Refund R3,500 Paid in Error – Endless Emails, No Action
Dear Hello Peter Team,
I am writing to formally request your urgent assistance regarding a refund issue with MultiChoice (DStv), which has caused significant distress and inconvenience.
My name is Dikeledi Lydia Teleki, and I am responsible for managing and paying my mother’s household expenses. The DStv account in question belongs to my mother, Tseleng Cecilia Teleki (Account Number: ***). My mother is 72 years old and depends on me for financial support.
In February, shortly after her DStv account was activated, I mistakenly paid R1,500 into her DStv account instead of R150 (on 20 February). Then again in March, due to both her Capitec account and DStv account being linked to my banking profile, I unintentionally paid a further R2,000 into the DStv account, believing I was transferring money into her personal bank account.
Upon realising my mistake, I immediately contacted DStv and followed all the required procedures. I submitted:
- My mother’s ID copy - Her bank statement - Proof of both incorrect payments
A week later, I was informed that one of the payments had been allocated to another customer’s DStv account. After contacting DStv again, a consultant assisted in transferring that amount back into my mother’s account.
During a call that lasted close to an hour, the consultant attempted to process the refund but was unsuccessful and advised that the matter would be escalated to a superior.
Since then, I have been receiving multiple emails from different representatives asking how they can assist, without any resolution. This has become extremely frustrating, as I have already comp**** with every request and provided all necessary documentation.
This matter is urgent. The total amount of R3,500 was paid in error and was intended for my mother’s groceries. We are currently waiting on this refund so she can meet her basic needs.
I respectfully but firmly request that MultiChoice:
- Process the full refund of R3,500 without further delay - Provide confirmation of when the funds will reflect - Stop sending repetitive emails requesting information already submitted
There is no valid reason for continued delays under these circumstances. We simply need our money returned.
I would greatly appreciate your intervention in ensuring that this issue is resolved urgently and efficiently.
Kind regards, Dikeledi Lydia Teleki
